As a sanctuary, our residents live their best life on The Muddy Pug...forever. Ensuring that our residents have clean, secure areas, the best food and personal attention, and consistent care is vital to their physical, social and emotional wellbeing. Our residents depend on you, and in return, our volunteers can develop a loving and deeply personal bond with the residents they serve. We all heal and grow in this experience.
Because we strive to provide our residents with consistency and stability in their routine, we ask volunteers to dedicate a minimum of 6 months to our residents. These wonderful souls often come to us from abuse or neglect. They need to see the same caring faces over a longer period of time to build trust, feel safe and know they are secure on the sanctuary. Regularly scheduled volunteer work includes- Sanctuary Saturdays: We gather on the Sanctuary from 8 am - 11 am to clean all of our resident areas. Duties include mucking stalls, feeding and watering, brushing residents and lots of loves. Evening Tuck In: Twice a week, from 6-7:30 (ish) we will tuck in our residents for bed time. Duties include tidying up residents areas for a comfortable evening, feeding and watering, snuggles and brushes. No prior experience is necessary for these volunteer opportunities. We ask for a great love for our residents and service, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and be coached, and your commitment to provide consistency to our residents. Sanctuary work can be very physically demanding. You'll want to be sure you can comfortably lift 40-50 pounds, bend, twist, and use manual tools like shovels. You'll start out by working directly with our Executive Director, Jen. If manual labor is not your thing, we would still appreciate your talents in photography, fundraising, event organization and assistance, on call resident transport, or artwork for merch! |
